Dr. Shemika Brooks (she/her/hers pronouns) has engaged in clinical work in a variety of college/university counseling centers, as well as community agencies serving children and adolescents, couples, and families. She also has a passion for group psychotherapy, and is a Certified Group Psychotherapist (CGP; credential by the International Board for the Certification of Group Psychotherapists).
Some of Dr. Brooks’s clinical interests include issues of social justice and equity; diversity, multiculturalism, and intercultural awareness; relationship issues; first-generation college students; issues of child abuse, neglect, and permanency (e.g., foster care, kinship/legal guardianship); interpersonal trauma and recovery; identity development; and women’s issues. She thinks dynamically, takes an integrative approach to therapy, and is open to working with clients holding all identities.

For adults (ages 18+) experiencing concerns or struggles that are affected by or are affecting their relationships. This group is unstructured and membership is open to a broad range of concerns and treatment goals -- may include depression, anxiety, grief, identity issues, family conflict, romantic relationship concerns, culture, trauma, and other concerns. Through a relational focus on the here-and-now issues arising in each session, members gain insights that help them to better understand themselves and others, and to make changes in their lives. All identities are welcome. Involves a weekly commitment. Screenings required.
