Certified Group Psychotherapist - Becoming a Certified Group Psychotherapist signifies that a clinician has met nationally accepted standards to practice as a group psychotherapist. This required that the applicant has documented clinical credentials and specific group psychotherapy credentials (see below). Candidates must have completed a graduate degree in a mental health discipline accepted by the Certification Board and achieved the highest state clinical licensure and/or clinical membership/certification in their designated national professional organizations. They must also meet specific group training requirements and provide documentation that they hold current malpractice insurance either through their practice or agency. The Certification Board requires a recertification process every two years to maintain one's CGP. Click here for specific application requirements. APPLY HERE

Professional - Minimum of a master's degree in a mental health field.

Adjunct -  Experience as a leader or co-leader of therapeutic, educational and/or consulting groups.

Early Career Professional - Minimum of a master's degree from an accredited graduate, residency or certificate-granting program within the last four years.
Student/Resident - Matriculated in an accredited graduate, residency or certificate-granting program in the mental health professions. Verification of full-time student status will be required.
