BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE


Thomas Treadwell EdD, TEP, received his EdD in Health Behavior & Group Psychology from Temple University in 1981. He has postgraduate training in Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama, & Sociometry, Fellowship in Family Therapy, Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic, Fellowship - Licensed Psychologist Training Program, University of Pennsylvania, Center for Cognitive Therapy. He is currently a clinical associate in Psychiatry, Center for Cognitive Therapy, Department of Psychiatry, Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and Full Professor of Psychology at West Chester University. Dr. Treadwell’s research interests include: Cognitive Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama and Sociometry, Cognitive Therapy of Depression, Anxiety, Couple/Relationship/Partner Conflicts-Social Network Problems, and is currently studying Social-Psychological Processes of Collaborative Communication Styles of Electronic Groups via the Internet. Dr. Treadwell is an executive editor for the Journal of Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama, and Sociometry and serves on editorial boards for two journals. Published Book: Treadwell, T. Dartnell,D. CURRENT GROUPS:

Clinical Groups: During the academic year two groups run on Tuesdays - a late morning group meeting (starting at 11:00am) and an early evening group (starting at 5:30pm), held here at 3535 Market Street in Philadelphia. Each group meeting lasts at least 90 minutes. These groups focus on problems with depression, anxiety, social phobia, and relationship-intimacy concerns. Individuals experiencing other difficulties who could benefit from group cognitive therapy are welcome as well. The group utilizes cognitive therapy techniques such as thought records, goal setting, and problem solving. Training Group I: Group Interventions - focus on Cognitive Behavioral & Psycho-dramatic Group Therapy The purpose: (a) to introduce the theory and practice of psychodrama as a therapeutic modality utilizing the triadic cognitive model; (b) be familiar with the basic techniques of cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodrama; (c) to identify five structural constructs, and three procedural components of the psychodramatic process; (d) be conversant with the five basic operational techniques of the psychodramatic process; and (e) familiarize self with cognitive behavioral skills to understand the cognitive triad by observing mood, behavior, and thought processes utilizing


FUTURE/PLANNED GROUPS:
