BIOGRAPHICAL PROFILE

Groups have been a significant part of my mental health career. I began by leading day treatment groups early in my career. I have led day treatment groups, process groups, demonstration groups, small groups, training groups, consultation groups and supervision groups. I have been a member of therapy groups, training groups, supervision groups, consultation groups, peer groups, small groups, median groups and large groups. I now run interpersonal process groups, training groups and a consultation group in a private practice setting. I am on the faculty of the Center for Group Studies in New York. In my faculty role, I coordinate the Center's Reading Mentor Program. I regularly attend the Annual Meeting of the American Group Psychotherapy Association and other trainings offered by the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society. In addition, I attend and teach at group association meetings around the world. I am particularly interested in the interpersonal component of mental health in daily life. As I tell my groups, we want the difficult challenges of relationships to come into the group process. We want them to come up over and over again so we can take incremental steps towards more effective interactions in group -- and in life.

CURRENT GROUPS:

I lead process, training and consultation groups in a private practice setting. All of my group are ongoing groups. Each member is invited to engage emotionally by putting thoughts, feelings and impulses into words. We then study the resistances that prevent group members from connecting and notice what inhibits members from accomplishing what they would like in life. The goals are the character development and emotional maturation of each group member.
