My Background and Work History:
Paul is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice in the state of Michigan. Following seven years at Sinai Hospital of Detroit where he worked extensively with inpatient, day hospital, and outpatient groups, he began a private practice in 1980. He has been on the teaching faculties at the University of Detroit’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program; Wayne State University-School of Medicine-Psychiatric Residency program; and the American Group Psychotherapy Association.
Over the last 30 years, Paul has presented workshops on both the national and international levels. His interests include fostering an integrative approach to understanding group process; studying the effects of gender composition in heterogeneous and homogenous groups; and addressing the therapeutic management of shame in groups.
On the personal side, Paul has been married for 44 years with two daughters and three granddaughters. He spends his free time traveling, playing tennis, raising Japanese Koi (goldfish), enjoying the skies as an amateur astronomer, and most importantly, modeling silliness with his granddaughters. Paul also has an interest in writing and recently completed a screenplay involving the issue of deception within the context of a therapeutic relationship.
